In an effort to support Stabilization and Reconstruction Operations (SRO), convoys and patrols must operate in Military Operations on Urbanized Terrain (MOUT) using major roadways. This requires the use of headlights, bright spotlights, lasers, and flashlights for signaling. As a result, the use of “white lights” causes a strong glare or “halo effect” to overwhelm the appearance of an oncoming vehicle, making it difficult to distinguish friendly from unknown vehicles at night.
